Why did my prayer calculation method change in the Tanzil app?
In shortWith Automatic on, Tanzil uses the method of the place you are in. When you move to another country it switches and shows a card saying so.
Steps
- Read the card under the current prayer at the top of the Prayer tab, such as Prayer times are now calculated by: and the method. Tap OK.
- To stay with one method everywhere, open Settings → Prayer times → Calculations → Calculation method and choose it. Automatic turns off.
- To follow the place again, choose Automatic in the same list.
Good to know
- Your Adjust times corrections and your Asr choice are kept for each place. They come back when you return, and the card says when they were restored. If your Asr choice differs from the new place's, it says Asr stays Hanafi, as you set it. (or Shafi'i).
- The app checks your location when you open the Prayer tab (not more than once every ten minutes). A short trip over a border does not switch the method; you need to be a few kilometres inside the new country.
- If you chose a method yourself, Tanzil never switches it. It only offers: Prayer times here are calculated by: with Switch to it, Keep current and Automatic. After Keep current it does not ask again for that place.
- After an update from an older version the app may show that card once, if the method for your place differs from the one you used.
