Can I read the Quran in the Tanzil app without internet?
In shortYes. The Arabic text, the four built-in translations, tafsir, tajweed colours and prayer times work with no connection. Mushaf pages, recitation and word-by-word translations are downloaded once, then work offline too.
Steps
- Open the Quran tab and read in Ayah list or Book mode. Nothing needs downloading for these.
- To read mushaf pages, open the reader's View menu and choose a mushaf. If it is not downloaded yet, the app opens Reading settings, where each mushaf has a download button.
- To hear a recitation offline, play it once while connected: the reader downloads the whole surah and keeps it. On the Listen tab, tap Download under the player for that surah.
Good to know
- The built-in translations are Musayev (Azerbaijani), Diyanet (Turkish), Kuliev (Russian) and Sahih International (English). Other translations are downloaded from the translation list.
- Tafsir is part of the app and follows the app's language.
- Prayer times are calculated on your device from your saved location. The qibla compass works offline; the qibla map needs a connection.
- On mobile data the app asks before any download.
More questions
How much space does a mushaf take?
The app does not show the size before downloading. It needs free space of about two and a half times the download while it unpacks it.
